not stuck-up, just really busy

So I have been home enough that I could have updated numerous times, but I have been so busy that when I do have a free moment I haven’t felt like it.

I had the brownie troop spend a weekend at my house.  Nat and I had a good time with them, though I was happy to see them leave and have my house back down to a dull roar.  Crafty wise I made them a few things.  The butterfly key-chains were valentines gifts from me, and I also sewed/crocheted duty bags for them.

I also let the girls paint my livingroom window for their mural project.  I am just today washing it off, but has been a nice and colorful decoration in my house for the last 2 weeks.

The only reason I am really washing it off, is cause I can’t see the birds in the front feeders, and you all know how much I love my birds.

I heart drums

All crafting, blogging, shopping and other non-necessary activities are on hold until further notice….turns out I am a rockstar addict…and the drums are the best!!!  Just started drumming on medium…super hard but equally fun!

ewwwwe

But a cute little black one.

I think he turned out really well.  This was the first pattern I wrote on my own, so every piece of him got torn apart a couple of times, but the end result was good…though I think I will make him smaller next time.  Also here are some of my other projects from the last couple of days.

Now I am looking for something new to make, but unsure what I am in the mood for.

quirky

Last nights tedium led to this little guy.

I think he is cute in a quirky(not even sure what this word means…gonna look it up) way.  I think I am going to do more of them in different themes or something.

Well according to dictionary.com:

quirky: adjective

informal terms; strikingly unconventional (syn: far-out)

I think I got it right on the mark.

Yup, that pretty much sums it up.  I really should be cleaning house, or painting walls, or something.  But all I really have done is cook, dishes, crochet and shovel.

Brrrrrr

Yup, it’s cold here.  Once you add in the windchill it is below -40C.  If you get lucky enough to find someplace without wind it still around -35, so really cold.  There really isn’t anything to do, so I have been crafting lots.  That and hoping the food in the house lasts as long as possible so I don’t have to go anywhere.

Normally, when it is nice outside, I love to watch this mysterious flock of birds.  Sometimes there are only 20 of them, other times there are so many that they look like a grey cloud in the sky(1000’s).  They seem to soar all day long on the air currents and look like ribbons in the sky.  They are amazing to watch.  I have tried so many times to get a good picture of them, but they change directions and speeds so quickly it is quite hard.  This is my best yet.

Because they are so hard to catch a good picture of I have never known what kind of bird they are.  Today though, it seems they are grounded due to extreme cold and landed across the trees and wires down the block.  So although the picture is fuzzy, do to distance, I finally have an answer.  They are waxwings.

Well it sure is easy to loose track of time and forget to post anything.  I just let one day roll into days and over a week I guess.  At first nothing was happening…and then Peter was home for a few days.  We did lots of cleaning up around the house, but no good projects or anything.  We are trying to spend less money as well, so no good outings either.  Now he has been back to work for a bit and I just haven’t had anything to say.

I am going to take some pictures of the projects I have finished in the last little while and post them when I get a chance.

so cute moment

I went outside for a minute and when I came in Cat had taken my crochet count note book and was drawing in it.  She looked up at me and said “you so pretty momma”.  I of course thought she was trying to stay out of trouble for drawing in my book, but upon closer inspection she showed me her first family drawing.  She and I are so proud of her….but now she is being incredibly rude, not 5 minutes later.  The wonder of 2 year olds…moment over.

no escargot here

I bought the pattern for this little gal on-line.  I found parts of it confusing and didn’t like how parts of it looked, so with a little reworking and rewriting of the pattern I ended up with the cutest little snail.  the pattern may have been easier to follow if I knew more about crocheting, but with only a month of experience I did the best I could.

Oh, and look at my super cute, retro hatbox/crochet carrier.  I picked it up at some random garage sale last summer…and finally have a use for it.

unproductive productiveness

Yesterday in my absolute boredom I managed to complete yet another crochet project, visit a new store(discount/closeout) in town and take the kids to the library.  The project turned out pretty well, the new store had a couple of bins of yarn all for $1 each and I found bill nye videos for this weeks brownie video.  All in all a pretty useless day turned out well.

Today is yet another day of the same.  Peter got called into work at 6 am (which annoys me to no end), so he is now gone indefinitely.  I did something to my neck while doing dishes this morning, so I can’t move my head(also seriously annoying and painful).   I am going to try crocheting something when cat goes for her nap…oh and watch some alias(I am watching the series again cause I like it and I can’t watch startrek while Peter is gone or he will be mad at me).

Oh here is yesterdays finished project…today I am attempting to crochet snails.
