Just a couple of things I made before Christmas this year.  A jellyfish for Bug’s class gift exchange and a  sweater dress for China.  The dress I made up as I went and China had many, many fittings which she was not crazy about, but she loves wearing it.

So we bought this little sea monkey like kit at Christmas for a family gift.  We thought it might be fun but after a couple of weeks of searching searching to see anything in the little tank I more or less gave up.  Sure there were itty bitty little dots, but nothing more.

Anyways I was going to dump out the water 2 weeks ago, and when I went to pick up the tank something skittered.  low and behold we had a little prehistoric creature that survived my neglect by eating all of his comrades.  Well he has grown very quickly and is not supposed to live longer than a couple of month, so I guess his time is running short.

Never the less he is always entertaining to watch, the cats and Cat(the human one) never tire of watching him.  He never stops moving all day and I am worried he is going to die before Peter(who has been away forever) gets to see him.  I also thought other might like to see what an Aquasaurs looks like.

He is really hard to get a picture of cause he never stops moving, but I think he is super cute.

Brrrrrr

Yup, it’s cold here.  Once you add in the windchill it is below -40C.  If you get lucky enough to find someplace without wind it still around -35, so really cold.  There really isn’t anything to do, so I have been crafting lots.  That and hoping the food in the house lasts as long as possible so I don’t have to go anywhere.

Normally, when it is nice outside, I love to watch this mysterious flock of birds.  Sometimes there are only 20 of them, other times there are so many that they look like a grey cloud in the sky(1000’s).  They seem to soar all day long on the air currents and look like ribbons in the sky.  They are amazing to watch.  I have tried so many times to get a good picture of them, but they change directions and speeds so quickly it is quite hard.  This is my best yet.

Because they are so hard to catch a good picture of I have never known what kind of bird they are.  Today though, it seems they are grounded due to extreme cold and landed across the trees and wires down the block.  So although the picture is fuzzy, do to distance, I finally have an answer.  They are waxwings.

I was kinda feeling a little blah the last few days, but am all better now.  Having accomplished so much around the house sure helped.  Peter and I managed to put a door on the huge laundry room and clean out all my craft stuff from the spare room.  Now I have a well organized craft-room in the the laundry room.  The door keeps the kids out(for the most part), and allows us to set up the spare room for guests…mainly my MIL.

I haven’t heard back from the jobs I applied for…which is good I think, I don’t really want to go back to work, just have less time at home, and I have plans for fixing that.  Guides has started back up, and so I have tonnes of stuff to do and plan.  But really nothing big going on, so I have been spending my time crafting and watching the birds in my window.  I love my birds, though feeding them costs lots.   I wouldn’t have it any other way, I would miss my chickadees too much.
