aqua pet
March 7th, 2008So we bought this little sea monkey like kit at Christmas for a family gift. We thought it might be fun but after a couple of weeks of searching searching to see anything in the little tank I more or less gave up. Sure there were itty bitty little dots, but nothing more.
Anyways I was going to dump out the water 2 weeks ago, and when I went to pick up the tank something skittered. low and behold we had a little prehistoric creature that survived my neglect by eating all of his comrades. Well he has grown very quickly and is not supposed to live longer than a couple of month, so I guess his time is running short.
Never the less he is always entertaining to watch, the cats and Cat(the human one) never tire of watching him. He never stops moving all day and I am worried he is going to die before Peter(who has been away forever) gets to see him. I also thought other might like to see what an Aquasaurs looks like.
He is really hard to get a picture of cause he never stops moving, but I think he is super cute.
weekend away
March 3rd, 2008I spent this past weekend at my sisters house. I was there to attempt to help out as my new nephew Lucas and big brother Rylan seem to be quite the handful. I didn’t get to help as much as I hoped but did get lots of cuddles from the boys. It was also Lucas baby-shower. So I decided to make gifts for both boys, so neither would be left out. Rylan has a fish themed bedroom, and a fish tank in his room, so I made these:
Lucas is too young to collect anything, so I made the decision that he needs aliens. I made these for him:
And here is the little cutiepie enjoying one:
Isn’t he adorable. There is more that I have made and done lately that could be added, but that is enough for today I think.
not stuck-up, just really busy
March 3rd, 2008So I have been home enough that I could have updated numerous times, but I have been so busy that when I do have a free moment I haven’t felt like it.
I had the brownie troop spend a weekend at my house. Nat and I had a good time with them, though I was happy to see them leave and have my house back down to a dull roar. Crafty wise I made them a few things. The butterfly key-chains were valentines gifts from me, and I also sewed/crocheted duty bags for them.
I also let the girls paint my livingroom window for their mural project. I am just today washing it off, but has been a nice and colorful decoration in my house for the last 2 weeks.
The only reason I am really washing it off, is cause I can’t see the birds in the front feeders, and you all know how much I love my birds.
I heart drums
February 9th, 2008All crafting, blogging, shopping and other non-necessary activities are on hold until further notice….turns out I am a rockstar addict…and the drums are the best!!! Just started drumming on medium…super hard but equally fun!
ewwwwe
February 5th, 2008But a cute little black one.
I think he turned out really well. This was the first pattern I wrote on my own, so every piece of him got torn apart a couple of times, but the end result was good…though I think I will make him smaller next time. Also here are some of my other projects from the last couple of days.
Now I am looking for something new to make, but unsure what I am in the mood for.
quirky
January 30th, 2008Last nights tedium led to this little guy.
I think he is cute in a quirky(not even sure what this word means…gonna look it up) way. I think I am going to do more of them in different themes or something.
Well according to dictionary.com:
quirky: adjective
informal terms; strikingly unconventional (syn: far-out)
I think I got it right on the mark.
keeping busy
January 29th, 2008Brrrrrr
January 29th, 2008Yup, it’s cold here. Once you add in the windchill it is below -40C. If you get lucky enough to find someplace without wind it still around -35, so really cold. There really isn’t anything to do, so I have been crafting lots. That and hoping the food in the house lasts as long as possible so I don’t have to go anywhere.
Normally, when it is nice outside, I love to watch this mysterious flock of birds. Sometimes there are only 20 of them, other times there are so many that they look like a grey cloud in the sky(1000’s). They seem to soar all day long on the air currents and look like ribbons in the sky. They are amazing to watch. I have tried so many times to get a good picture of them, but they change directions and speeds so quickly it is quite hard. This is my best yet.
Because they are so hard to catch a good picture of I have never known what kind of bird they are. Today though, it seems they are grounded due to extreme cold and landed across the trees and wires down the block. So although the picture is fuzzy, do to distance, I finally have an answer. They are waxwings.
TBA
January 25th, 2008Well it sure is easy to loose track of time and forget to post anything. I just let one day roll into days and over a week I guess. At first nothing was happening…and then Peter was home for a few days. We did lots of cleaning up around the house, but no good projects or anything. We are trying to spend less money as well, so no good outings either. Now he has been back to work for a bit and I just haven’t had anything to say.
I am going to take some pictures of the projects I have finished in the last little while and post them when I get a chance.
